Facelift, Browlift and Endoscopic Browlift
Facelift Procedure
Our treatment of facial aging is directed at two different conditions. The first category is the treatment of excessive
loose skin and sagging of the underlying supportive tissues and muscle covering layers. You will see that we treat these
conditions in much the same way you would "take in" a blouse or dress that is too large by removing excess material,
restitching the garment skin, usually requires good skin care techniques, the use of fine sutures. Superficial chemical
peel or dermabrasion procedures, and/or collagen injections.
To create a more youthful face, we utilize different surgical procedures, often together: one dealing with the top third
of the face and the other with the bottom two-thirds. (It is worth mentioning that prior to treating any of the above problems,
a good skin care program and the gentle use of topical Retin-A as prescribed by your doctor can prove highly beneficial in
decreasing the aging process of the skin.)
Incision lines are usually carried from the mid-hairline above the ear to the crease line just in front of the top of the
ear, behind and inside the tragus (The protuberance of cartilage just at the front of the ear canal.) The incision is then
carried up hugging the lobe of the ear, curving on the back of the ear, and high into the hairline area. Although this sounds
quite extensive, the incisions are actually quite inconspicuous once they heal.
After the incisions are made, the doctor carefully lifts the loose skin and muscle tissue and gently restructures the
sagging tissue and supportive muscle covering layers. Excessive fat is either suctioned or repositioned, and the cheek folds,
cheeks, and neck areas are sculptured and recontoured. Once the facial foundation is restructured into a more natural position,
the doctor continues in much the same way that a fine tailor performs alterations on a garment. The skin is laid back down,
any excess is careful removed, and the incisions are closed with very fine, specialized plastic surgery stitches. This double
or triple layering repair (commonly called the SMAS or superficial musculoaponeurotic procedure) usually gives a long-lasting,
natural result.
ENDOSCOPICE BROWLIFT (FOREHEAD LIFT)
Of all the cosmetic procedures that use endoscopy, forehead lift is the one which plastic surgeons more commonly perform.
Instead of the usual ear-to-ear incision, three to five small, 1/4- 1/2 inch incisions are made just at the hairline.
The endoscope functions as a viewing device and helps guide the surgeon too remove the muscles that produce frown lines
and repositions the eyebrows at a higher level.
The advantage of an endoscope surgery is that the surgeon is able to view the surgical site almost as clearly as if the
skin were opened from a long incision. Because the incisions are smaller, the risk of sensory loss from nerve injury is
decreased and bleeding, bruising, and swelling will be reduced. This allows a quicker recovery and subsequent return to work.
