Common Risks

Over the last decade, improvements have been made in laser, making it safer and more comfortable for the patient. The procedure is tailored to the individual patient by selecting the manner and depth of the laser treatment, and the skin care instructions to be followed before and after the laser treatment. The laser treatment also can be combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures for optimum results.

Probably one of the most frequent problems is that of being too conservative on the operators part, necessitating an a additional treatment in the future. The consequences of being too aggressive are de pigmentation or scars. Thinning of the skin making blood vessels under the skin surface more visible is a potential, and least likely is inducing cold sores that could cause scaring. Infection can occur if fastidious post operative care is not adhered to as outlined, which could cause scars. Not a complication, but the need for addressing postoperative redness is present. The eyes are protected from injury by the placement of metal shields over the eyes. Over the postoperative course of several months the area that was laser treated is at a higher risk of burning with any ultra violet light exposure.

A NOTE ON SATISFACTION AND DISSATISFACTION

It is important that you work with the doctor to establish a realistic appearance goal. More than seventy items contribute to a surgical result. And with aesthetic surgery, good results are nearly always achieved. When you are willing to reserve final judgment for a period of six months to a year, our results are usually excellent and unparalleled.

Beautiful paintings and sculptures by world-renowned artists always have small imperfections, but these are rarely scrutinized. Instead, one sees the overall beauty and mastery of the art. In order to remain natural looking, cosmetic surgery may result in small imperfections only noticeable when closely scrutinized. To avoid these, the doctor would have to use techniques that may distort the features. Instead, we use an artistic approach while maintaining your safety. We strive for a youthful, natural look–the mark of an artist.
